Sleek MakeUP i-Divine: Curious, Safari and Graphite

Written by Shamini on March 6, 2010 – 3:57 AM

I was supposed to post this in February, but I forgot all about it. I think I need to admit that I’m an addict. I’m heavily addicted to.. well, mail. What else? I love mail, mail makes me happy. Unless it’s bills, they tend to take me down a notch. More bills means less money for fun, like shopping on the Internet, which naturally results in mail.

In mid February I received another package containing two more LE i-Divine palettes from Sleek MakeUP named “Safari” and “Curious”. I got both on eBay, and was very happy to discover that I could whisk them away at retail price. Retail! How often does that happen? eBay is filled with greedy people who’s desire to become rich is a lot stronger than their sense of honesty, selling heavily overpriced makeup (and other items) that might not even be authentic. As I already said, both these palettes are LE and not available through Sleek MakeUP anymore. “Safari” is a gorgeous metallic palette with 12 colors that instantly made me think of the wilderness, lions, rhinos, giraffes and large, open plains with grassing Zebras! A very suitable name, indeed. “Curious” on the other hand is a rather strange palette, as it’s an odd mixture of shimmering and metallic colors (three blues, one teal, one yellow, one purple and so on). I do like it though, it’s just strange curious! Maybe it’s not so bad after all, at least I’m getting the correct associations to the given name.

Mr. Postman brought me Sleek palettes!

Written by Shamini on February 2, 2010 – 5:44 PM

After more than a whole week without any mail, forcing me to believe that Mr. Postman had forgotten all about my existence, I finally got a package from the UK yesterday. And it wasn’t just any package, it was filled with colorful goodies! One of my readers, the sweet and beautiful Sneezingpanda, sent me no less than four palettes and an eye kohl from Sleek MakeUP! As already said I had heard of Sleek MakeUP though Specktra, but when Sneezingpanda posted a look where she had used her “Sunset” palette, I was totally sold. I’m a sucker for colors, we all know that, and I fell completely in love with the immensely pigmented eyeshadows in her Sleek palette. Love at.. second sight!

Since she’s in the UK and I’m not, she went straight out and got one of each palette in stock, then shipped them my way. It was “Original” (wearable, shimmery), “Storm” (neutrals and wearable, shimmery and matte), “Sunset” (neutrals and colorful, metallic and shimmery) and “Acid” (neon, shimmery and matte). What can I say? I absolutely love these palettes, and I’m forever grateful. Each palette has a good selection of colors, though some might be more more wearable than others depending on the wearer. I love eye shadows, I love colors, I love the palettes, and I absolutely adore Sneezingpanda for sharing the luxuries with me. Thank you a thousand times!

Sleek MakeUP i-Divine

Written by Shamini on February 2, 2010 – 10:48 AM

My newest lemming(s) was the very pigmented and colorful palettes from Sleek MakeUP, and I’m so blaming Sneezingpanda for that. Never heard of the brand you say? I’m not surprised. Sleek MakeUP is a drugstore brand that can be obtained at Superdrug for those lucky enough to live in the UK. I first heard of these Sleek palettes on Specktra, where most of the American girl were craving one or more. Ever since I discovered M·A·C and Urban Decay I haven’t really been interested in drugstore brands, mainly because the brands we’re offered in Norway tend to suck, but the color swatches of these was reeling me in. See, when I decide to wear eyeshadow I want eyeshadow that’s pigmented enough to show up on my lids. Not too much to ask for, is it? In my personal experience you get what you pay for with most drugstore brands – lower price, lower quality, less payoff. And here’s where Sleek MakeUP manages to prove me wrong! Their eyeshadows are absolutely fantastic, soft and pigmented – the price is just a neat bonus.

Ingredients:
• Mica
• Talc
• Kaolin
• Magnesium
• Stearate
• Dimethicone
• Paraffinum liquid
• Ethylhexyl
• Palmitate
• Propylparaben
• Methylparaben

What’s a Sleek MakeUP i-Divine palette?
Each palette contains a mirror (covering the inside of the lid), a double sponge applicator (who uses them?) and 12 colors of 1.1 grams each. The best thing about these palettes is the price, which is an affordable £5, which would be about 48,- NOK with today’s exchange rate. The price may differ a little from store to store, but it’s about £5 anyway. Not bad at all for a super cute little palette with many nicely pigmented and gorgeous colors! I also want to mention that the whole look and feel of the palette is good, not cheap and flimsy as you might think. Some might wrinkle their nose at the ingredients, and also that these eye shadows are mainly shimmery in some way or another, but I’m smiling!

According to sleekmakeup.com, they’ll be launching an online store in February. They have had lots of requests from overseas, so I guess they didn’t see any other solution than opening up a store offering shipping overseas. Yay! Maybe others will follow their good example, and open up for international shipping? The world (of makeup) would certainly be a better place.

Did I tempt you enough to make you wanna try any of these palettes? Keep an eye out for the brand new store at Sleek MakeUP some time during February.
