Sigma® Professional Brush Kit

Sigma Makeup Professional Brush KitI have become a rather big fan of Sigma®, and today I finally got my Sigma® Professional Brush Kit, which I have been eyeballing for a long time now. I bought the full set with the brush roll, in black of course, and seeing that I'm very pleased with everything else I own from Sigma®, I'm sure I'll love these brushes as well. I also got my retractable kabuki brush from their Hollywood Collection, and a complimentary eyeshadow in Indian Girl and the SS217 in travel size.

Some time in November I also got the Sigma® Beauty on the Go Kit. These are Sigma®'s new eyeshadow collection, and comes in four different editions; Neutral Shades, Smoky Eyes, Fun Colors, Blush and Highlight. The latter consisting of one highlight color, and three different blushes. None of the eyeshadows are matte, but more on the frosty side according to MakeupByTiffanyD (click to see swatches). Each shadow comes in a separate box, but can be easily popped out and put into a quad, also sold by Sigma®. Genius, if you ask me. There's even no need for labeling as each shadow comes with a sticker on the back of it, and shows through on the back of the quad. I love the idea, and it makes the lemming even harder to resist. This way you can customize each quad just the way you'd like, for instance the highlight, a blush and two eyeshadows in one quad when you're on the go. Neat! You can either buy the complete boxed set, which includes with all four kits - just don't forget to pick up three extra palettes, as this set only comes with one - or you can buy them separately.

I tried these eyeshadows when I was in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't bother with using a primer underneath. Oh, stupid me. I experienced a little bit of fallout since these shadows are indeed shimmery (I'm even tempted to say glittery), which naturally pissed me off. I hate fallout, and therefore a good primer is an absolute must when you want to wear these. I also got the feeling of having a rather "greasy lid", something a primer would also have prevented. My fault entirely. I'll be giving them another chance very soon, and I'll be sure to use my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion first. How did I live without this stuff before?

As already stated several times (here and here), I have a few Sigma® brushes from before, and I love them to death. I know that some people swear by their M·A·C brushes, and in a way I do too, but the Sigma® brushes are close enough in quality, and way cheaper. Please don't misunderstand though, I'm not saying that cheap is good - because when it comes to makeup it's about having good tools and good products to work with, and Sigma® has proven that good and cheap may also go hand-in-hand. I would never abandon or switch my M·A·C brushes for any other brand, but I reach for my Sigma® ones just as often - and I absolutely love the übercute short handled travel sized ones. So convenient!

Sigma® Hollywood Glamour

A few days ago Sigma® released their new Hollywood Glamour SE collection! I'll gladly admit it, after trying their brushes for the very first time, they had me. Over time I have accumulated quite a nice collection of M·A·C brushes, and I love them with all my heart. It was when I got my first pair of eye shadow brushes from M·A·C that I discovered that putting on makeup was really fun, and easy. It's all in the tools! Anyway, this post is about Sigma®. Being a faithful viewer and subscriber of several channels on YouTube, I discovered the wonderful world of Sigma® through TiffanyD. She introduced me to these fantastic tools, which are almost as good as the ones from M·A·C, yet so much cheaper! I'm the kind of person who'll gladly pay a little extra for quality, but with Sigma it's certainly not an issue anymore. I originally wanted the "Complete Kit" that comes with the brush roll, but since I couldn't afford it I went for the "Face and Eyes Kit" instead - in addition to a couple of individual brushes. I later went back to get the sexy travel kit "Naughty in Black", and now I'm craving the retractable kabuki in black.

Now, you might ask if the Sigma® brushes are better than M·A·C brushes? All I can say is that you'll have to make up your own mind on that matter. I reach for my Sigma® brushes just as often as I do with my M·A·C ones, and I love them equally. Even though they are named quite similar, e.g. 219 and SS219, there are small differences between the two which might make you prefer one of them to the other. It's a matter of choice.

Sigma Makeup Hollywood Glamour: Breakfast with AudreyThis new collection consists of their brand new retractable kabuki brushes, and three different kits. The black kit is named "Breakfast with Audrey", the red one's called "Something About Marilyn" and the pink kit is named "Princess Grace". Each of these sets are made up of a makeup bag, a retractable kabuki and the cutest little heart shaped mirror - and the packaging is decorated with pictures and quotes associated with the three Hollywood beauties they're named after. You'll get each set for $49, which would be 284,- NOK. Purchased individually these three items would add up to $72 or 417,- NOK, so this is just another great offer from Sigma®!

Personally I'm not very fond of makeup bags in general, but it would certainly make a great gift to a makeup loving girl. I absolutely adore the mirror, and since I've been wanting a retractable kabuki for almost a year now, that was a big hit with me as well.

I ♥ Sigma®!

Sigma® Travel Kit

Sigma Makeup Naughty in BlackI am completely in love with my gorgeous travel kit brush set from Sigma®! I signed up for their newsletter when I first heard about their brushes, and I was instantly sold when I got an e-mail picturing their new sets "Naughty in Black" and "Nice in Pink". I don't know about you, but I tend to have a problem with long handles and maneuvering them in front of a mirror, and that's why I just had to have my very own set of short handled brushes!

Both kits are identical apart from the color, and one of the brushes. "Naughty in Black" comes with the SS190 while "Nice in Pink" comes with the SS187. Needless to say, I chose BLACK. This was the second time I ordered from Sigma®, and this time I was amazed by their speed. My brushes was shipped the same day as I ordered them, and I had them in my mailbox within a week, or rather 6 working days. Fantastic! Now, people will always have their own preferences, and you'll find those who absolutely love their Sigma brushes, as well as those who wouldn't even consider "cheat" on their precious MAC brushes. Most of the reviews I've read online agree that Sigma is close to MAC in quality, although less expensive - saving money on good tools is great, right?

In my opinion the 187 brush is a must-have to every collection, but since I really didn't want the pink set I chose the black one in spite of the fact that it came with the SS190 instead of the SS187. I cannot remember where I picked it up, most likely from TiffanyD on YouTube, but someone had said that Sigma® would ship that extra brush with any of the sets - if you ordered the black one with the SS190 you would get the SS187 as a complimentary gift from Sigma®, and vice versa. Sounded too good to be true, but I decided to give it a try anyway. When I got my package and ripped it open, I found that the cutest little SS187 (with a pink handle) had been added to my order without any extra charge! It's a perfect set of the most essential brushes, perfect for traveling or even keeping at hand in your purse.

I must admit that I still reach for my MAC brushes every time I'm doing my makeup, more out of habit than anything else, but it kinda prevents me from testing any other brands. I promise that I'll be back with a proper review as soon as I've had the chance to really try out these Sigma brushes!
