Sigma® Make Me Up

Sigma Make Me Up: Crazy
We all know that I'm a big fan of Sigma® and their wonderful brushes. I've mentioned them many times already, and I own most of their brushes myself. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: having good tools is everything! If you don't have a lot of money to spend on makeup and beauty products, at least invest in a few good brushes. It'll make the application so much easier, and save you a lot of hassle.

I recently received a newsletter from Sigma® showing their brand new Make Me Up Brush Kit, and I've got to ask.. who can resist falling in love with these colorful kits? The idea of a hard container to keep the brushes in is fantastic, avoiding damage to the bristles when traveling or even storing. The container can even be split in two and used as a brush holder - so neat!

Contains:
• F30 Large Powder Brush
• F50 Duo Fibre Brush
• F40 Large Angled Contour Brush
• F60 Foundation Brush
• F70 Concealer Brush
• E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush
• E65 Small Angle Brush
• E60 Large Shader Brush
• E30 Pencil Brush
• E40 Tapered Blending Brush
• E05 Eye Liner Brush
• E55 Eye Shading Brush

+ a free travel size E25 Blending Brush

The new Make Me Up kit consists of 12 brushes for your face and eye makeup. It comes in four different colors to choose from, with four adorable and fitting names:

Make Me Up does not contain any new brushes. These kits are new editions of their best selling Professional Brush Kit (not to be confused with the Premium Professional Brush Kit), although the container is new with the Make Me Up kit.

It's a bit too late to ask Santa for this kit, but who knows what the future will bring. I myself have fallen in love with the purple kit, which one of the four kits are your favorite? And will you be ordering one?

Sigma® Premium Travel Kit

Sigma Premium Travel KitWhen Sigma® just released their brand new travel kit, this time with seven luxurious and functional brushes from the regular Premium Kit, only in travel size, I didn't hesitate a second before ordering it. Genius! I adore all my Sigma® brushes, and I have accumulated a nice collection ever since I discovered the brand (see below).

So how could I let this new kit pass me by? I couldn't. Sigma® offers the kit in four different colors: Black, Silver, Hot Pink and Pale Pink. Since I already have the regular travel kit in black, I chose black for the premium kit as well.

Many people would probably ask themselves what one would need such an amount of brushes for, and my answer is simple: different brushes for different purposes! I do have to point out that the three brushes I simply cannot live without is E55, E40 and E30 which is equivalent to M·A·C 239, 224 and 219, in that order. These brushes can be found in the original travel kit, or as individual brushes. In this premium kit I'm extra excited about E50 and the E45, and I love how Sigma® always include the travel size version of their E25 which is equivalent to M·A·C 217.

Contains:
• F25 Tapered Face Brush
• F15 Duo Fibre Powder/Blush Brush
• F65 Large Concealer Brush
• E50 Large Fluff Brush
• E45 Small Tapered Blending Brush
• E20 Short Shader Brush
• E10 Small Eye Liner Brush

+ a complimentary E25 Blending Brush

I also think it's very convenient and easy to bring these cute travel kits with me when I'm going somewhere instead of the regular long-handled brushes. Not only do they take up less space, but the bristles are always protected when I keep them safe in their little pouch. There's also a pocket inside the lid which closes with a zipper, very convenient!

I don't use my glasses anymore, but I'm very nearsighted and use contacts. I still need my mirror close to my face when I'm doing my makeup, and prefer these short-handled brushes. So much easier to maneuver!

It's yet another wonderful brush kit from Sigma®, and if you want a nice set of short-handled brushes of good quality I'd recommend getting these. If you're looking for more basic brushes I'd choose the original Travel Kit first, and expand if you like it.

Sigma Makeup Affiliate Program

I'm sure you've already noticed that I've added a banner to my sidebar. I'm not a big fan of banners or advertisements in general so I doubt you'll be seeing any more popping up here, but being a big fan of Sigma® and their wonderful brushes I wanted to show them some love. If you click on the banner it'll bring you directly to Sigma®'s online store with my affiliate link, and this means that I'll earn a 10% commission whenever you choose to use my link.

Please understand that I have absolutely no intention of earning a few quick bucks off my readers, followers or friends. If you choose to use my affiliate link I thank you, if not.. well, it's OK! I've chosen to inform you about this because I myself feel like I'm being tried exploited whenever I'm expected to spend my money through an affiliate link without being informed about it. I would like to have a choice in the matter, and I'm leaving your decision up to you.

Sigma® Premium Brush Kit

Sigma Makeup Premium Brush KitEarly in February I picked up a rumor about a new upcoming brush kit from Sigma®, and naturally I was anxious to see what they had in store for us. I recently decided to get their Professional Brush Kit with the brush roll, and I had the black Travel Brush Set from before. When their Hollywood Collection was launched I got the black retractable kabuki brush, and I haven't regretted any of my purchases as of yet.

When the news finally hit us I was amazed! This new brush kit contained several brushes that I've been eyeballing at M·A·C, but couldn't afford to buy. This kit contains the total of 15 brushes and a brush roll. There are 14 new face and eye brushes, seven of each, plus 1 new lip brush. I know some people was upset that these brushes weren't sold individually or even without the brush roll, but even though I had a few of these brushes already, I didn't think twice about getting the full kit. The brush roll is made of some kind soft, synthetic material resembling leather, and has a magnetic snap closure. It's also got "Sigma Makeup" embossed on the flap - and it's ideal to store your brushes in.

The plan was to wait a little before ordering, but I ended up ordering the Premium Kit right after the launch, and when I received them 11 working days later I was absolutely thrilled. I love them!

I have said it before, but I'm not going to stop saying it: having good tools is everything! I'm still not saying that cheap is good, but getting those good tools doesn't have to be expensive. As already mentioned the Premium Kit has three brushes more than the Professional Kit, and the price has been increased by $60. I can understand that people are reacting, but when you think about it it's no more than $20 per brush, and that's absolutely reasonable for these brushes. For comparison reasons I want to mention that the 134 Large Powder Brush from M·A·C costs $52 alone. If you break it down you'll discover that you actually pay less than $10 a brush with this Sigma® Premium Brush Kit, and you get a nice brush roll to accompany your tools.

Brushes in the Premium Kit:
• SS227 (E50) Large Fluff Brush
• SS192 (F65) Large Concealer Brush
• SS131 (F15) Duo Fibre Powder Brush
• SS165 (F35) Tapered Highlighter Brush
• SS129 (F10) Powder/Blush Brush
• SS138 (F25) Tapered Face Brush
• SS134 (F20) Large Powder Brush
• SS222 (E35) Tapered Blending Brush
• SS226 (E45) Small Tapered Blending Brush
• SS217 (E25) Blending Brush
• SS195 (F75) Concealer Brush
• SS212 (E15) Flat Definer Brush
• SS214 (E20) Short Shader Brush
• SS316 (L05) Lip Brush
• SS210 (E10) Small Eye Liner Brush

You get 15 brushes in a convenient brush roll for $149 plus shipping, as opposed to the Professional Kit which is $89 with the brush roll. Keep in mind that several of these brushes are expensive if you are to buy them individually from a brand like M·A·C, to mention one of them. Even thought most of them are comparable in name, size and area of use, it's up to you to decide which ones you prefer. There are small differences between the two brands, even though they have similar names. I'm also hoping that several, if not all of these brushes will be available as individual brushes later on, making it possible to buy backups or replace them without having to buy another complete kit. I know I'll keep buying my brushes from Sigma® in the future.

Pain, more pain and painkillers

Imagine that, I've actually written 901 posts counting this one. Impressive!

Just to give a little update on myself, I'm happy to announce that I'm finally feeling better. It's been one of those weeks.. consisting of intense pain in my neck, headaches which felt like my skull was being crushed - slowly and calculated, throwing up, seeing the underneath of our bed covers, being bored to death and sleeping. Oh, and painkillers. Lots of painkillers. Did I mention that some painkillers cause nausea? At least with me, so I had to choose between two evils, and I decided that it would be better to be relieved of some pain for a few hours and vomit from the medicine, instead of feeling suicidal from the pain. Neat! It's on days like these I'm forever thankful that I have parents that care, friends that care, a boyfriend who loves me and takes care of me, and a little dog who generally just loves everyone - including me. That certainly keeps my spirit up, no matter how much pain I'm in. Now I'm finally up and about again, and I've been off the heavy painkillers for two days - which is good. I'm still feeling a little nauseous, and like I have an aura of a possible headache hanging over me, but I'm hoping that I'll feel even better tomorrow. Keep those fingers crossed!

I haven't been online much lately, mostly just from my iPhone now and then to check my e-mail and Twitter, so the abstinence started to hit me hard. So I've been doing all kinds of stuff online today, including opening up a Flickr account for myself. I wanted a quick and easy way of uploading my images, mainly those of Theo, so I could share them with everyone who wants to see him develop. I used to have a gallery online with all sorts of pictures from vacations and such, but it kinda drowned in spam comments, so I ended up deleting the whole thing. Anyway, Flickr works absolutely perfect!

Mr. Postman also came knocking today. Finally! He brought me a very nice black box from Sigma®, but I'll get back to that later in an individual post. This time the package took 11 working days, which is a little longer than I'm used to, but still not bad at all. I haven't seen any sign of my shipment from Asos, where I ordered that incredibly cute little coin purse, and it's already been 13 working days. The one week I really needed some mail to cheer me up nothing arrives. Sucks!

Anyway, I'm alive.
Just wanted to let you all know.
