What would life be like without gadgets?
I should be awarded some kind of prize for being an excellent spender, because I spent another 1699,- NOK today. I know, can you believe it? And what did I trade for such an amount of money? A compact camera, namely a Canon IXUS 220 HS, and I adore it! No, I know. I didn't need another camera, I do have my Canon EOS 450D that I use for a lot of my pictures, but it's honestly too damn big to bring along when I venture outside or go on smaller trips, and I'm one of those who often see things around me I'd like to photograph. Back in 2008 we bought another little Canon IXUS, the 80 IS, but I don't like it. At all. So now I have an adorable little black companion with me everywhere, and I hope we'll grow to become good friends! Ambitious as I am (!), I figured it could be handy to have a camera able record in full HD (1080p) should I ever feel the urge to record makeup tutorials for YouTube. Or something. And it was cute. And black. And matte! I love the matte finish, and it makes it so much better to grip. Adorable!
So there you have it. Now you know what I've been up to today. Apart from being slightly annoyed with the Norwegian Customs, who are holding my package of Ozotics Pro Multi Chromatics hostage in Oslo at the moment, I mean. I also spent last Thursday in Lier, visiting my sister and seeing my niece and her boyfriend, and my nephew again, before we drove down to Hjortneskaia on Friday to board the M/S Color Magic headed to Kiel and back, with parents and in-laws! We all had an awesome time together, and I hope we can do it again soon. I'm gonna fantasize about the roasted deer in blueberry gravy I had for dinner for a very long time!

Meet MacLittle
MacBook Air

I've added a new little Apple to my family, and this time it was a MacBook Air 11-inch. I didn't really need a new MacBook as my old one's still working like a charm, but I've been wanting a smaller laptop for a while now since the old one was a bit big and heavy for me to use. I spend a lot of time in front of at least one of my computers, and since I've been trying to avoid my regular one to see if that's what making me dizzy and nauseous, my only choice has been my 13-inch MacBook which is big. At least compared to this little beauty, because "little" is really the cue word here! She's a beauty. So thin, light and small - a pleasure to use. She's not a great, big monster machine, but she's perfect for my use. I need a laptop that's easy to use when I'm away from home, a laptop I can easily go online with, blog on, and do smaller photo editing jobs on - and this is certainly it, she's the perfect little companion.

Mr. Postman never fails me!
The last couple of days I've been feeling a little better, and I'm hoping it's going to last - although every time I dare to think the thought I go back to feeling lousy. I called my doctor for an appointment as I said I would, but I couldn't get one until December 13th. Oh well, I'm not on the verge of dying so I guess I can wait another three weeks.
Mr. Postman always knows how to cheer me up, so today he brought me no less than four packages for me to enjoy! The most important of the four was my Logitech Wireless Trackball M570, which I bought to see whether or not it'll make a difference for my shoulder, and then also my neck. I've been suspecting that my shoulder's hurting because of my extensive use of a computer mouse, and that the pain continues up into my neck. Hopefully I'll get accustomed to using a trackball again soon, because at the moment it's pretty much impossible to use for precision work like photo editing.
The remaining three packages were not as important, but equally fun! When I opened up the first package I found two NARS eyeshadow duos in Cheyenne and Wicked. If you ask me NARS eyeshadow duos are way too expensive, but I chose to get these mainly because I wanted to when Sephora recently had a $10 each offer on them. I didn't bother using a personal shopper service for only $20, so I decided to get them off eBay for $14.95 each instead - pretty OK price for a NARS eyeshadow duo, if you ask me. Unfortunately I'm a little disappointed in Wicked, it being a lot lighter than I imagined. Cheyenne on the other hand is really nice!
In the second package I found four M·A·C pigments in Chartreuse, Golden Olive, Cornflower and Violet which I bought through Specktra. I really enjoy plowing through the clearance bin on Specktra, buying items like eyeshadows and pigments from collectors. Genius when it comes to pigments, especially if you prefer them in the old original jars, like I do.
And from the last one I pulled out a .925 Sterling Silver necklace personalized with my name. I absolutely love it, even though I'm one of those girls who can't stand Sex and the City where these personalized necklaces gained popularity because of the one "Carrie" wore. Oh well, I don't really care. Mine says "Shamini" and I adore it!

7 days till August 7th!
And on August 7th I'll turn 31 years old. Imagine that. I'm still thrilled to become one year older, and I always look forward to my birthday. I honestly don't understand all the fuzz about the "30 year crisis" and all that. God knows I still feel like I'm in my early twenties, and age is just a number.
Yesterday I got my first (and probably only) birthday present this year! A little too early, but I still have to wait a few weeks until I can actually play with it. Øyvind had ordered the new iPhone for me, so yesterday I got a mysterious e-mail confirming the order of a black 32GB iPhone 4! Personally I'm a kind of person who like to make up my own mind about things - I never like products or items just because it's something popular - so I haven't really been awed by my iPhone 3GS even though I can't imagine being without several of the available apps I have installed. With that said I'm absolutely and immensely pleased with his choice of birthday gift - and I hope I don't have to wait too long for it to arrive!
Just a few days ago I discovered the app iBooks, and that app alone is reason enough to own an iPhone in my opinion. Now I've got a wooden bookshelf on my phone, and it's all ready to be filled with wonderful books. I've already got "Winnie the Pooh" and "Dracula" in there, and I'll be adding a few more classics shortly. Genius!
For a few years now I've been wanting my next mobile to be a BlackBerry. I don't know why, I have just fallen in love with its look and the full miniature keyboard. Unfortunately it's hellish expensive, and is considered to be a business phone. When I moved to Trondheim I bought myself one of those mini PC's with the intention of having a smaller device to blog, surf the Internet and take notes when in school on and while away from home. I didn't like it, and thought maybe a BlackBerry would fill my needs instead. The iPhone has a nice touch keyboard, but I really don't like it when I'm typing larger portions of text - I always hit wrong keys, or even several ones. So yesterday I found the perfect little addition to my new iPhone 4 adventure: a tiny wireless bluetooth keyboard - and naturally I went straight ahead and ordered it. The price? $36 (about 220,- NOK with today's exchange rate) plus $3 (19,- NOK) for shipping to Norway.
An update will naturally be added as soon as I get my shiny new gadgets, and I'll add a tiny "review" of the wireless bluetooth keyboard as well. It might just be crap, but I think it's worth a try!

Apple iPhone 3GS
The day when my Nokia 6500 Slide decided to die on me finally arrived. It didn't die completely, it just started rebooting in the middle of a phone call. It had also suddenly decided to refrain from showing me who was calling or texting, something I found very annoying since I haven't taken the time to memorize every contact I have stored on my phone. I've been lemming a Blackberry Curve for some time now, but since you'll have to pay with your soul or at least something of a similar value, I managed to agree with myself on the new iPhone 3GS instead. I ought be used to a heavy phone, since I once had the brilliant idea of buying a Nokia made of stainless steel, but I still think that the iPhone is a little on the heavy side. I guess I'll get used to it though.
So now I feel kinda important! The main reason why I chose an iPhone was that I wanted something a 100% compatible with my Mac Pro and MacBook, and I love the fact that I'm able to check my e-mail from wherever, using WiFi. Neat, and very free! I've also installed apps for using Facebook and Twitter, even though I don't really see myself using my iPhone for Facebook.
Anyway, what would life be like without any gadgets?
