Paris Haul #2: It’s in the Eyes

It's time for the second part of my "Paris Haul" series, and this time I've dedicated my post to my favorite product: eyeshadows and the likes of it. Because of my situation I'm not much of a fan of swatching products in-store - testers are always placed out of reach for me, and I don't wanna start disassembling displays to be able to swatch them - but I did actually swatch most of the items I purchased in Paris, instead of buying blindly.

Since I'm very aware of having readers who couldn't care less about makeup and shopping, those of you who are interested will have to click "continue reading" for the juicy details, including pictures. I'll have the last part of my haul up in a few days, so please hang in there a little longer! Grin

Revisiting Champs-Elysees

I'm a little sad when I realize we're headed back home in only four days, but I'm really missing our little fuzzballs now. Like a lot. We spent our day on Champs-Elysées, walking around, having Paris' worst cup of Starbucks, and shopping at the ginormous Sephora. Can you tell how much I love Sephora? This time I wasn't half as stressed out as I was last time, so I actually managed to have a look at things, and buying some goodies there as well. I think this must be my fourth trip to Sephora while here, and this is really starting to get expensive! I stopped by the following counters: Dior, Make Up For Ever, M·A·C, Urban Decay. The man at the Dior counter was very nice, and helped me find what I wanted and match me to the correct shade. At the M·A·C counter I asked the MUA to line my eyes, and she made me look so beautiful by using only the Technakohl Liner in "Graphblack" and some setting powder. I need to get the hang of this liner business, I really want to look like this every day!

We've been stopping by Starbucks a lot while here, but the one on Champs-Elysées, oh man.. it's the worst coffee I've ever had. Apparently they had a new recipe for their wonderful Frappuccino®, or at least that's what they told us, making it taste like crap. Ugh. So disappointed. Apart from Sephora and Starbucks we didn't really do anything but walk around, Øyvind wanted to stop by a few car exhibitions as we walked past, and we shared another nice day in Paris.

Oh, and the buses of Paris deserve their own paragraph in this post. All our experiences with them has been wonderful, no trouble at all. Most of them have automatic ramps and a nice space reserved for people in wheelchairs, and when you signalize for the bus to stop, the driver stop where it's easiest to enter. If people are being asses (apparently they are found here as well), refusing to move from the reserved space, the bus driver will demand them to move away. Awesome! Pleasant drivers, helpful and nice, making it a breeze to get from A to B by bus. It's so good to know that buses are indeed a possibility, so two thumbs up from me!

I wrote this post when we arrived back at the hotel after a nice day in the city, only to understand from Twitter that something horrible had happened at home. I quickly learned that there had been a terrible explosion in Oslo, killing seven people, and there was also a massacre on Utøya, killing a lot of innocent youths. I feel bad for posting about our vacation when something awful like this has just happened, but I choose to keep updating my blog for my friends and family. My heart and thoughts are indeed with everyone involved, both in Oslo and at Utøya.

My Paradise is at Cap Ferrat

I almost jumped from joy when Mr. Postman finally stopped by with a package for me yesterday. I say 'finally' because Mr. Postman seems to be taking his time nowadays. The package contained goodies I wouldn't have been able to get my hands on if it hadn't been for Fieran and her man, so thank you so much to the both of you! Please let me know if I can do anything in return. I'd be more than happy to be of assistance. Heart

Hauls + Splurges = Treasures

Even though I've decided to stop shopping for a while, I had to ask Øyvind to stop by DHL today to pick up a package for me. Mr. DHL didn't call me this morning, although the tracking told me that my package had arrived and was sitting in their office, all lonely and sad. It contained a collective haul consisting of products from M·A·C, Urban Decay, Origins, Stila, Benefit, Jack Black and Tarte! Man, that list made it sound like I've gone mad with my VISA once again, but I swear it wasn't that bad. I've actually been a good girl since I said I'd stop shopping for a while to save up some fun money for Paris, apart from a tiny little slip where I ended up getting a few items from M·A·C when ordering some things for a good friend of mine. Oh well, nothing too bad at least, and I think I've been good.

Let's move on to my precious DHL shipment, shall we? I'm well aware of my list being a bit long, but bear in mind that these items have accumulated through April and May and some where purchased at a discount.

Easter Shopping

Juicy Couture SweetestSomehow I imagined there would be no shopping while in the middle of nowhere, also known as "home", but apparently there's no payday without at least a little shopping.. not even now that I've decided to start saving up money for Paris! I'm so weak I'm actually a bit ashamed of myself. I like eBay, and I've just purchased a pair of sunglasses which is something I actually need, so my conscience is.. pretty much clean. Not so long ago I watched a video by Macbarbie07, and I liked her sunglasses so much that I went on a mission to find out which model it was she was wearing. Unfortunately the temples of her model "Bronson" were too long for my tiny head.. I mean, I currently own a pair of Ray-Ban Junior sunglasses! I then changed my mind and started lemming a pair of "Classic" instead, but when the color I preferred turned out to be discontinued, I ended up with a pair of "Sweetest" sunglasses. I don't know when they'll arrive, I'm just hoping they won't be too large for my small face, making me look like some kind of insect. I can't stand that hideous trend. If they look amazing on me, I'll post a picture when I get them, promise.

Mr. Postman stopped by with two packages for me yesterday. One contained a 184 Duo Fibre Fan brush from M·A·C, and the second package held two Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes in "Tipsy" (coral) and "Natural Beauty" (muted strawberry red), two gorgeous blushes I managed to get my hands on thanks to Line! I could have ordered them from Sephora via MyUS, but this way I got them straight in my mailbox - much less hassle, and much quicker. For swatches of the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes, take a look here and here.

Deborah Lippmann Nail LaquersFieran also offered to buy me a few nail polishes from Deborah Lippmann, a brand I haven't tried before. Even though I certainly have enough nail polishes, I decided take her up on the offer and get three bottles: two glitters and one creme. The first one was "I Know What Boys Like", which is the periwinkle blue polish from the new summer collection. Who doesn't love periwinkle? Swatches to be found at Ommorphia Beauty Bar. The second one was "Lady Sings the Blues" (silver sparkled blue), a polish that immediately caught my attention after seeing swatches by Scrangie - and the third one was "Ruby Red Pumps" (Dorothy's shimmering ruby), a mesmerizing polish if I should judge by the swatches at Laquerized.

Now I'm going MIA for the weekend. Smile
Have a good one, people!
