More Toxic Nature!

Illamasqua Toxic Nature

Today Mr. Postman dropped off a black box from Illamasqua, and once again I was quite surprised to receive a package from them. As I opened it up I couldn't avoid letting out a little squeal, as I found four items and a mixing palette from their upcoming collection Toxic Nature inside!

I received two of their new Cream Pigments in Emerge (peach) and Delirium (rosy taupe), a Nail Varnish in Radium (acidic lime shimmer) and a Precision Ink in Glister. I don't know what to say! I feel like she who sends me these packages really know me, because I always get the items I like the most. Unfortunately it's pretty much impossible to capture the shimmer in Radium, but it looks nothing like anything I've seen before, and it's truly a special color. I'll post pictures of Radium on my nails as soon as I'm up to it!

Illamasqua Toxic Nature

I'm pretty sure I'll be adding more items from Toxic Nature to my own collection when it's launched, as I really, really like these Cream Pigments and how you can use them for several things, and I'm unable to resist the gorgeous orange lipstick and matching lipgloss.

Illamasqua Toxic Nature

Illamasqua Toxic Nature

On March 10th Illamasqua is releasing their newest collection: Toxic Nature - and this is by far my favorite promo picture of the bunch (see more here). The tagline of this collection is "Welcome to the Atomic-Botanical Wastelands..." and even though it looks a little ..morbid, I'm a great fan already!

"Like nature itself, it's not all sweetness and light. Shades of mint, mushroom, plum, orange and rose are distorted with rich textures and pops of acid-infused brightness that command attention and draw you in.."

Illamasqua Load

Illamasqua LoadI just received two products from Illamasqua, the nail polish Load being one of them. I was instantly taken by the name (and description) of this polish, gutter-minded as I am, and I decided to try it out immediately.

Back in October I tested another polish from Illamasqua, and I loved it. Unfortunately I didn't love Load as much, simply because I found it to be hard to apply, difficult to work with, and it took quite an amount of effort to look somewhat even on my nails even though I didn't fully succeed.

Load is described as a "rich cream" which is quite accurate. It has a glossy finish. I might go as far as calling it a very subdued yellow against my skin, which might have to do with my yellow undertones. I applied three coats, the last coat being quite thick, and I had to work quickly to avoid streaking.

The Verdict:
RatingI'm kinda sad to award Load with only three brushes, but the difficulty applying it did disappoint me a bit. By all means, I'm no nail polish guru, but I was hoping for another Jan (nice and easy to work with). On the other hand.. it's a light color, and I think lighter colors are harder to apply flawless in general. As I said I love the name and description of this nail polish, and I do like the color as well. I'm also giving it another plus for drying quickly, despite of the third coat being a bit thick. Load receives three brushes from me, but all-in-all it's a strong three!

Picture was taken indoors in artificial lighting.

Such a rich, creamy.. Load

Mr. Postman stopped by with a black padded envelope from Illamasqua yesterday, a much appreciated pick-me-up! It contained two items from their new Throb collection: Load (rich cream) and Succubus (blood red). I don't know about you, but I'm really amused by the name and description of the nail polish. I seriously need to get my mind out of the gutter, but.. "rich, creamy load".. no, sorry. My mind seems to be stuck in the gutter! Grin

I have to admit that I went to Illamasqua not so long after receiving this package to order the lipstick Sangers (blood red) as well, and I'm wondering if I should order a few of the other products used for the gorgeous promo pictures. It'll have to wait for a while though, but there's no harm in making a list? One should think that I have enough eyeshadows in my stash, but I know of a few colors from Illamasqua I'm dying to add to my collection.

NOTD featuring Load will come shortly.
