Haul: London 2012
I mentioned buying a Dior Addict Lipstick at Westfield London, 578 Diorkiss, but I actually got two more on the way home. We had to travel by ferries from England to Norway, and naturally I found my way into the tax-free. The selection was pretty boring, but I found two reds I really liked. 745 New Look, a gorgeous fire engine red - and 864 Couture, which I'd describe as a deep coral red. Both these lipsticks look a little different on me than on Karla Sugar's swatches, but you get the idea! I realize that these three lipsticks look pretty much identical in the photo, but when swatched the difference is evident.

As always I wasn't planning on spending any money in the tax-free, but the persuasive woman managed to talk me into trying a blush from Clarins: Blush Prodige in 05 Rose Wood. I'm not a big fan of Clarins, a brand I associate with old ladies, so I normally walk straight past their aisle. I did however LOVE the gorgeous glow and subtleness this blush gave my face! Although I must say.. someone should teach these ladies a thing or two about hygiene. She picked up a dusty (!) blush brush from a shelf, applied the blush and put it back on the shelf. She also tried convincing me that I should switch my HydraQuench for some anti-aging moisturizer, and I was almost offended. Whenever I start getting wrinkles I'll wear them with pride, believe you me.

Even though I've expressed my feelings towards the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick several times earlier, drying and uncomfortable to wear, I must be caught in some weird haze. I purchased 63 Rebelle and 44 Sari d'Eau when I was in Paris last summer, expecting to love them to death. I didn't, although both colors are truly amazing. For some reason I got one more of these Chanel Rouge Coco Shines, namely 54 Boy. Picking a color like this is completely unlike me, as I usually steer away from the subtle neutral lip colors. But oh, the power of Internet hype! I really wanted to love them - and who knows, I might grow to love them!
Amira told me about the infamous 133 Erika F. from Lancôme before going to London, and it immediately ended up on my list. I had a few more on there, but after swatching them in-store I didn't feel like they were unique enough to splurge on. 133 Erika F. is a bit glittery, I'm not sure whether or not I like that part, but the color is amazing and quite unique! If you like this hard-to-describe color, a weird mix of taupe, gray and khaki depending on your skin tone, then check it out next time you have the chance. It's somewhat similar to Stila Diamond Lil, but at the same time different.

I figured I'd post a picture of these cute Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD palettes that I picked up on my first day in London. I don't know anything about the quality, I got them simply because I liked the design - and the names: 001 Black Cab and 008 True Union Jack! Sucker much? At least I acknowledge it. I might have picked up all of them if it hadn't been for the price tag of £6 a piece. For some odd reason 001 Black Cab doesn't have the embossed crown in the middle, but they are both purchased at Boots. They are available from ASOS at £6.50 a piece, and free international shipping!

I know I already told you about this, but I did manage to get my hands on the Urban Decay NAKED 2 palette as well when I visited Debenhams at Westfield London. I was also quite surprised when I discovered a whole display of the 15th Anniversary palette, which sells for too much moolah on eBay. If I hadn't already owned it, I would have been totally ecstatic with my find! Anyway, NAKED 2 had to follow me home, and it's the one thing I got from Urban Decay. I felt pretty good with myself, showing a little self-control at least. Did I need NAKED 2? No. Not at all, ..but there are some gorgeous colors in there! Addict.

Last, but by no means least, I added two more colors to my rapidly growing collection of Dior Vernis: 694 Forget-Me-Not and 504 Waterlily. They weren't even on my list, but after finding the very limited 401 St. Tropez in Paris I always take an extra look. Just in case. 504 Waterlily was calling me, and it's even prettier in real life than I had ever imagined! The shimmer makes it really special, and the color is perfect for spring and summer. 694 Forget-Me-Not quickly followed its sister into my bag - you know, ..purple. And even rose scented! These are limited edition, and you should act fast if you want one, or both.

With this I conclude my London haul, and now it's time to start planning, and saving up for, our next trip to Britain. I hope it won't be long! It's been an amazing start to 2012, and I'm absolutely positive this year will turn out nothing less than great!

INGLOT INGLOT INGLOT
I never thought I'd say this, but it's actually quite good to be back home - even though I wish we've had more time in London. On Saturday I felt so lousy I didn't manage to anything at all, most likely from the very long drive we had on Friday. We ended up spending about 15 hours in the car, plus the three hours on the ferry across Skagerrak. We arrived home at about 4 AM, and for several reasons we weren't in bed until 7 AM. Exhausting!
When I knew I was going to IMATS for real, knowing that Inglot would have a booth there, I pictured my upcoming haul. Oddly enough I didn't have a list ready until the evening before we left for London, and I was so sick of looking through swatches online. Yesterday I sorted the squares into three palettes - try suffering from "makeup OCD" while doing this - but I'm not so sure I'm content with the result. Some of the colors turn up completely different on camera, so they don't look as neat as I thought they would, but hey.. at least they're pretty to look at! If I ever purchase more eyeshadows from Inglot, as I'm sure I will, I'll end up rearrange them anyway.
If you want to see what I hauled at Inglot, continue reading.
Make Up Store Trondheim
I've done a few posts about Make Up Store in the past, and if you take a closer look at these comments you'll understand from our discussion why I've been pretty frustrated with them. I used to love going there just to get lost in my own little Rainbow Heaven, but then they moved and a flight of stairs was suddenly preventing me (and others like me) from entering their store. It made me "boycott" the brand, as I feel like one should be able to expect accessibility in 2010, but now I have officially lifted my "boycott" and I really want to praise Make Up Store for the way they've handled my feeback. I've been communicating with them on Facebook, and our store has now requested a ramp for their entrance. Sadly such a ramp is quite expensive and it has to be approved by the main office, but at least Make Up Store Trondheim has shown understanding and initiative - and I'm thankful for that, it means a lot to me!
About three years ago Øyvind gave me a gift card from Make Up Store for a 50 minute makeup lesson and my choice of products worth 495,- NOK for Christmas. It was the perfect gift, but for several reasons I was always prevented from using it while they were still situated at Trondheim Torg, and when they moved to their new location I figured I'd missed my opportunity. Since I was unable to let it go, I asked them via Facebook if I could still trade my gift card for the products at least as I thought I would be unable to have the lesson done (because of the stairs and everything). She who replied was really nice, and told me to stop by during January to have my gift card redeemed.
The Inevitable Haul
So last Friday I decided to go to Make Up Store, bringing my own car ramp to be able to enter the store. Since I didn't know whether or not it would work, I had asked if Øyvind could pick up a few items for me, just in case. As it turned out there's was no need for a personal shopper, my ramp got me safely into the store. I wandered around for a while, eyeing all their colorful makeup, before I let myself be drawn to the pencils. You might remember that I purchased three pencils at KICKS back in November? Well, I liked them so much that wanted to see if they had more of the Soft Metallics. I found one I didn't see at KICKS named "Wooden Metal", and had a really hard time putting it down. As I was the only customer there at the time, I also had the pleasure of having the wonderful M. to myself, so I started asking her for advice on which colors would look good with my dark brown eyes. She told me that I could use both warm and cool tones, it's the second time this week I've learned that, and pulled out a selection of blues, purples and browns, among them a mesmerizing dark blue and a gorgeous purple. Since I'm supposed to be saving money for our upcoming trip to London, I couldn't go as insane as I would have wanted, so I ended up deciding on "Deep Blue Sea" and "Wooden Metal", in addition to their Blending Eyeliner Brush 217. I was kinda amazed by this brush! It looks like a regular pencil brush (most brands have one), but it had a firmness I've been missing with the pencil brushes I already own. It's synthetic as well, and will be absolutely perfect for smudging any liner, above or below the lash line.

As it turns out I'm getting my makeup lesson after all, and I'm looking forward to it come March. A great big thanks to M., for making my Friday pretty much perfect! And for doing a pretty good job in restoring my faith in humanity.

Warning: Nail Polish Pr0n
Mr. Postman always makes my day. On October 6th he came by with my very first order from Nail Supplies. Since I had a moment of boredom a while back I went a little crazy for nail polishes, and this is my haul. I have no idea why I keep hoarding nail polish, but I cannot seem to avoid it. Thank goodness for thinner! So today my Small Flat Rate arrived in my mailbox, filled to the brim with gorgeous nail polishes in wonderful colors perfect for fall! I also finally got around to picking up two new base/top coats: CND™ Stickey™ and Gelous™ Gel - the latter is said to be a very good coat for topping off glitter polishes, because of its thicker consistency.
Treasures from Illamasqua
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Illamasqua, I think I say that every time I blog about them, but it's true. When I received my last package from them containing items from Theatre of the Nameless, I knew I had to order a few more items. From that collection I decided on the Pure Pigment in "Berber", mainly because it's somewhat of an unique color, their Precision Ink in "Havoc" - everyone needs an aubergine eyeliner - and false lashes called "Grandeur". I won't say I'm disappointed in these lashes, as I really do like them, but they don't really look like the ones depicted at Illamasqua? In addition to these items I also ordered two Medium Pencils in "Vow" and "S.O.P.H.I.E.", and a nail polish in "Raindrops". It's such a dreamy color. Reminds me of those childhood days spent indoors looking out on the rain running down the window. Brings back memories.
The S.O.P.H.I.E. pencil is a special item from Illamasqua. It's a black Medium Pencil named in honor of Sophie Lancaster, and £3 from every purchase will go to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. If you don't know who Sophie Lancaster was, please take the time to read this - it's such a sad story. Help raise awareness!
