Makeup makes me happy, and today I figured I’d try something completely new. I dived into my makeup storage and found a red shade I got off eBay some time ago. Unfortunately it’s a discontinued shadow, but M·A·C Falling Star was just screaming at me out of the pot, and I do not regret getting it. At first it looks kinda red to me, which is why I originally bought it, but it’s really a burgundy with a red reflects – and this is most certainly not the last time I’ll use it! I put M·A·C Electra (silver with icy shimmer) on half of my lid, starting from the inner corner, and put M·A·C Falling Star on the outer half of my lid. Then I gently blended the two colors together on the middle, and pulled the burgundy slightly more into the inner half. I absolutely love the result. Then I used Femme Fi for highlight, since it’s the shadow that matches my skin tone the best, and put a little bit by the tear duct to brighten the eye.

This is actually an EOTD from August, but at the time it was taken I didn’t have Photoshop installed on my Mac, so I postponed editing it – and of course I forgot all about it. I’ve done a green look before, but this one was a lot more toned down. My original plan was to use M·A·C Pagan on the lid, but I had somehow mixed them up in my palette, so I used the wrong one. That’s what you get for being lazy and not lifting the shadow up to double check the label!

Please ignore the untidy brows, and the poor lighting. The pictures were taken outside in daylight on a cloudy day.

Again with the lighting! This time the picture is taken outside in daylight, and once again it looks a little different than it actually did. I must say that I really like this palette, and I haven’t regretted buying it for a second. I don’t really understand the use of Flipside, but that’s simply because I don’t like to accentuate browns or even neutrals with a brighter color like teal or turquoise. These shadows are creamy and buttery, easy to apply and blend, and I cannot complain about the pigmentation. Soft and bold at the same time, can you ask for more? My own blending has yet to be perfected, but I seem to learn a little more every time I do a new look.

Oh, and I promise that the next EOTD will be something more colorful.

Todays makeup turned out really interesting, like a sheerer version of M·A·C Spiced Chocolate. Unfortunately I had to take pictures indoor, due to gray and rainy weather, and none of them turned out the way I wanted. It’s no success when I look like I’m either drunk, high on drugs, or a mixture of both. The best picture is the one I’ve chosen to share with you, and I’m kinda squinting a little.. *sigh* The poor lighting even makes it look like I’ve missed completely when trying to put on my eyeshadow, but I assure you it looked perfectly fine in real life. And no, I’m not done complaining! I decided to try out Himalaya for highlighting, and it turned out to be pink, not white as I initially thought. I’m not making that mistake again.

This was my very first try with NARS eyeshadows, and even though I must confess that I’m spoiled from using M·A·Cs highly pigmented colors, I know that I’ll redo this combination again with another highlighting color. I’ll even try to do it on a nice day, so I can have the pictures taken outside instead. Happy? Not so much, but hey.. I can’t only share the good pictures.

It might sound weird, but this is actually the very first time I’m wearing green makeup! I think it turned out very nice, and I’m certain that my green palette will be reached for more often from now on. Lucky Green is unfortunately a LE color, but I just had to use it. It’s such a gorgeous green! I’m also very happy to have found the perfect “nude lip” for me in M·A·C Peachstock, as I hate that horrible “concealer look” some choose to wear. Very subtle, yet pretty!
