Puppy Show: Beagleringen Trøndelag

We went to Melhus yesterday to participate in another puppy show. It was arranged by Beagleringen Trøndelag, and Cuda's breeders were also coming with his sister. Cuda has developed a lot since the last time we saw them! This time we had a little competition in another younger male, who ended up being chosen for best male, and BOB (Best of Breed) in the end. He was such a gorgeous little thing, and he was a bit more focused than the enthusiastic Cuda - who mainly wanted to run around and greet everyone, humans as dogs. Just as last time his tail never stopped wagging, not even for a single second. I'm not complaining though, we're still beginners and we're learning something each time we attend a show - and now we have more to work with until the next show in the end of April.

7 mnd, mg god type, bra hode, litt små øyne, korrekt bitt, velkroppet og velvinklet, bra hale, beveger seg bra fra siden og bak, padler frem. En trivelig valp som er velvist.

Judge: Elisabeth Bugge Olsen, Norway

As already mentioned Cuda ended up as 2nd best male, which really doesn't mean anything as there were only two males competing about the title, but he was awarded a red ribbon for quality. He also received a really good critique, which I think is a bit more important than the actual ribbons - and I'm not saying that as a sore loser. Now I'm really looking forward till April, when we're showing both dogs, two days in a row!

Cuda had to go to the veterinarian today to have two of his teeth pulled. Poor little one! I absolutely hate having to anesthetize the little ones, but sometimes it's inevitable and at least now he's all done with tooth shedding. Theo was very happy when Øyvind brought Cuda back and tried to get him to play, but poor Cuda was all woozy and tired. After a while Cuda started acting more like normal again, and now they're running around like usual. Smile

Puppy Show: Norsk Boxer Klubb

So the season for showing dogs has started, and today we drove to Ler to show Cuda for the first time. I might be a bit biased, but I think he did very well - and it's so fun to watch him. His tail never stops wagging, and he's not afraid of anything. Guichon's My Name Is No No Bad Boy is an extraordinary LC male, and I'm hoping Cuda will follow in his sire's footsteps as he grows up. Unfortunately he was the only male shown in his class today, so he automatically was rewarded two red ribbons. What can I say, I like a little competition! Later on he also competed against his sister Daisy, who also won her class, for the BOB (Best of Breed) title, but ended up receiving BOS (Best of Opposite Sex).

5 ½ mnd, bra størrelse og proposjoner, fine ører, velfylt panne, korrekt stopp. Ønskes noe sterkere pigmentering. Kompakt kropp, bra hals, bra ben og poter, stram overlinje, velansatt hale, bra sidebevegelser. Løfter ben noe høyt. Utmerket temperament.

Judge: Arne Foss, Norway

I also want to take the opportunity to praise the people who organized this puppy show, Norsk Boxer Klubb Trøndelag, for being conscious of my wheelchair and for holding a parking spot for us right by the entrance. Thank you for making this a very nice experience!

Our next planned show will be in late April, when we're headed for Sunndalsøra together with Venke and Jan Åge from Kennel Venjan.

Dog Show: Orkdal Hundeklubb

Sunday was an eventful day as we drove to Orkanger to attend the very last dog show of the year. It's a little sad that we didn't get to attend more shows than we did, but we'll try to do better in 2011 - on December 10th Cuda will be old enough to start his own show career. This time I tried to get a good night's sleep before having to get up at 06:30 AM, but just as last time I didn't get many minutes of shuteye. Bah! At least I survived the day, and I had a good time.

Judge: Kenneth Edh, Sweden

We've been practicing a lot since our last show, and I could spot a lot of improvement in both Theo and Øyvind as a handler. I'm so proud of my boys! We still need more practice, but considering that this was our third time in the ring it's looking very promising. It's nice to see that our work with Theo has paid off, making him more confident and focused in the ring. As opposed to last time he didn't curl up at all, but held his tail high, walked nicely and looked both eager and happy - just the way it should be.

Theo finished with two red ribbons - 1st quality and 1st place, and this time he also got a purple ribbon which is actually an honorary prize! I'm very pleased with the results, his critiques and I'm already looking forward until next time when it's Cuda's time to shine.

Dog Show: Norsk Miniatyrhund Klubb

Jesus, what a day. Let me just tell you that it all started late last night when I decided that I wasn't going to bed, but sit up all night instead. No, I haven't gone crazy. We had planned to attend a dog show in Verdal today, and knowing that I wouldn't be able to drag myself out of bed at 6:30 AM - after only four hours of sleep - I figured I'd better stay awake to be sure not to miss the show. And as said as done. We drove to Verdal, where we had to ask for directions twice to find the damned place, and finally arrived just five minutes before it was supposed to be our turn in the ring. God, I absolutely hate being late for scheduled things! Thankfully there had been some delays, so it turned out we weren't in any rush at all. The weather was really nice, even though it was a little cold in the shadows, but it was a very nice experience. We got to talk to some new people, meet several gorgeous dog and we even got to look at some puppies for sale.

Kunne hatt noe mer markert panne. Fint nosparti, korrekt bitt md store, fine tenner. Mørke øyne, tilstrekkelig størrelse. Velplasserte ører, bra hals. Behøver utvikles i kroppen. Noe lavt ansatt hale. Bra fremvinkler, noe knappe bak. Velbåren hale. Rør seg bra fram, men unde seg bak. Kunne hatt bedre fraspark bak. Lovende pels.

Judge: Ann-Christin Johansson, Sweden

When time was 11:00 AM it was finally our turn - I actually started worrying that we had missed our spot - to enter the ring for the second time ever. I participated in the world of showing with my Chinchillas long time ago so I'm not completely green, but on the other hand showing a dog is something completely different. Theo is a young dog, and he's both curious and easy to distract. We have been training a lot lately and Øyvind has done a wonderful job with him so far. Even if he could have walked better and been a bit more focused in the ring, I think he did great and I was very proud of him as he won his class!

Unfortunately it was cold outside as already mentioned, and this - in combination with being a little insecure because of all the new sounds, smells and impressions - caused him to curl up a little bit. If he had stretched out his hind legs as he's supposed to it would have raised his tail a bit more, and he would have looked a lot better in front of the judge.

Theo was awarded two red ribbons, one for 'very good' quality and then one for 1st place. I have to admit that it would have been fun to be awarded a purple ribbon or even a pink one, but we're aiming for one of those next time. It's important to have goals! Wink
