33 days until Paris

After postponing it several times we finally decided to go down to the police station to have our passports issued, just be sure that we'll receive them before we go. It should be like 10 days before we get them, but now that summer's approaching you never know. Unfortunately half of Trondheim's population had also decided today would be a good day to register for a passport, or renew their old one, so we ended up waiting for about 1.5 hours! I'm not kidding when I tell you there was more than 50 people ahead of us. And several of these had obnoxious, noisy children. When the queue sign finally hit 549, and it was our turn, the lady behind the counter told me that I didn't have to do fingerprinting for my passport, but I said I wanted to have a cool (or "biometric" if you prefer) passport too, so I was allowed to after all! I'm like a kid you know. And believe it or not, my picture was actually not bad at all (thanks to the nice photographer man at FotoKnudsen Solsiden). At least I don't have to be ashamed every time I pass through a passport checkpoint.

I think Lady Karma was proud of me though. I gave my queue ticket to an elderly lady since Øyvind and I used one spot together - no use in hanging on to it if I knew I wasn't going to use it myself. It saved her a little time at least. So with our two passports everything's finally set for our trip to Paris, and I even have money to spend when we're there. Fantastic!
